Blanket Jackson Seeks to Stop Grandmother Katherine from Using Michael Jackson Estate Funds for Legal Battles

Blanket Jackson, the son of the late Michael Jackson, is taking legal action to prevent his grandmother, Katherine Jackson, from using funds from his father’s estate to finance her ongoing legal battles against the estate’s executors. The dispute stems from the estate’s recent $600 million deal with Sony, which Katherine is challenging in court.

In court documents obtained by Billboard, Blanket argued that it would be unfair for the estate to cover Katherine’s legal fees for her appeal, as he and his siblings had accepted the judge’s ruling allowing the deal to proceed. Blanket, who now goes by the name Bigi, stated that Katherine’s appeal had “long odds” of success and that it would not benefit the heirs of the estate.

While Blanket did not entirely oppose the estate paying for Katherine’s initial objections to the deal, he questioned the high amount she had requested for legal fees and argued against funding her ongoing appeal. He emphasized that it would be unjust to burden the beneficiaries with the costs of a legal battle that they did not support.

Representatives for Katherine Jackson and the Jackson estate have not commented on the matter. The case highlights the complexities of managing a high-profile estate and the tensions that can arise among family members over financial matters.
