Lycoming County Commissioners End Legal Dispute with Controller Krista Rogers
The ongoing legal dispute between the Lycoming County commissioners and county Controller Krista Rogers has come to a close with the commissioners deciding not to pursue any further appeals. Commissioner Scott Metzger announced this decision following the recent defeat of an appeal in the case.
At a meeting this week, the commissioners voted to transfer the positions that had been moved out of Rogers’ office back to her office, signaling a new era of cooperation between the two parties. Metzger emphasized the importance of moving forward and working together with the controller’s office.
The decision not to pursue further appeals was supported by the current board of commissioners, including Marc Sortman and Mark Mussina. The commissioners expressed their commitment to working collaboratively with Rogers and rebuilding a positive relationship.
Rogers, in response to the board’s decision, expressed her enthusiasm for working with the new board, describing it as a “breath of fresh air.” She emphasized the importance of all elected officials working together for the benefit of the county.
Sortman praised the merger of positions under the controller’s office, highlighting the potential for streamlining operations and saving the county money. The transferred positions include senior accountant, accountant I, accountant II, lead fiscal technician, financial technician, and payroll/AP specialist.
In addition to the decision on the legal dispute, the commissioners approved several full-time replacements and lateral position transfers within various county offices. They also approved agreements for the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds for business assistance programs and emergency services.
The next commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for February 15, where further discussions on county matters will take place. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
