Hall & Oates Announce Musical Split After Five Decades Together

Hall & Oates, the iconic pop duo known for hits like Rich Girl and Maneater, have officially announced their musical split after five decades of performing together. The decision comes after an ongoing legal dispute between the two regarding John Oates’ alleged attempt to sell his half of their jointly owned company, Whole Oats Enterprises.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Daryl Hall expressed his surprise at the situation, stating, “It hit me by surprise. I don’t know, man — all I can say is people change and sometimes you don’t really know someone like you thought you did.”

Hall confirmed that the split marks the end of the band, revealing that the duo have not had a creative relationship for “at least 25 years”. Despite their differences, Hall and Oates produced numerous hits and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

Following the split, Hall has reunited with Dave Stewart, best known for his work with Eurythmics, on his upcoming solo album. Hall described their partnership as a true collaboration, with Stewart enhancing his ideas and contributing to the songwriting process.

While some speculated that the album’s track titles may be about Oates, Hall insisted that they are not related to his former bandmate. A representative for Oates has been contacted for comment on the situation.

The news of Hall & Oates’ split marks the end of an era for fans of the beloved pop duo, but also opens up new opportunities for both musicians to explore their individual creative paths.
