Hall & Oates Announce Musical Split After Five Decades Together

Legendary US pop duo Hall & Oates have shocked fans by announcing their musical split after five decades of performing together. The duo, consisting of Daryl Hall and John Oates, became entangled in an ongoing legal dispute last year regarding Oates’ alleged attempt to sell his half of their jointly owned company, Whole Oats Enterprises.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Hall expressed his surprise at the situation, stating, “It hit me by surprise. I don’t know, man — all I can say is people change and sometimes you don’t really know someone like you thought you did. Difficulties can be made from things that aren’t difficult, and then it goes to a place where it can never come back from. It’s unfortunate and untimely, but some things just change. People rewrite history and harbor thoughts you had no idea about.”

Hall officially confirmed that this is the end of the road for the iconic duo, revealing that they have not had a creative relationship for “at least 25 years”. Despite their split, Hall & Oates produced numerous hits including Rich Girl, Maneater, Private Eyes, I Can’t Go For That, and Kiss On My List. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame two years later.

Following the split, Hall has reunited with British star Dave Stewart on his upcoming sixth solo album. Hall described Stewart as his “shadow partner” since 1984, emphasizing their strong partnership and friendship. Hall insisted that the track titles speculated to be about Oates are not related to him.
