BharatPe Group and PhonePe Group Settle Long-standing Legal Disputes Over Trademark ‘Pe’
BharatPe Group and PhonePe Group have finally put an end to their long-standing legal battles over the trademark ‘Pe’. After five years of disputes across multiple courts, the two companies have reached a settlement that will bring all judicial proceedings to a close.
Both parties have agreed to withdraw all oppositions against each other in the trademark registry, allowing them to proceed with the registration of their respective marks. Additionally, they will take necessary steps to comply with the obligations outlined in the settlement agreement for cases before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court.
Rajnish Kumar, Chairman of the Board at BharatPe, commended the professionalism and maturity displayed by both management teams in resolving the issues. He expressed optimism for the future, stating that the settlement will allow the companies to focus on building strong digital payment ecosystems.
Similarly, Sameer Nigam, Founder and CEO of PhonePe, expressed his satisfaction with the amicable resolution. He believes that the outcome will benefit both companies and enable them to concentrate on advancing the Indian fintech industry as a whole.
