Stetson Law’s College of Law in Gulfport Earns Top Rankings for Trial Advocacy and Legal Writing Programs
Stetson’s College of Law in Gulfport continues to shine as a national leader in legal education, with its Trial Advocacy program earning the No. 1 ranking for 2025 and its Legal Writing program maintaining its No. 3 spot. This recognition from the U.S. News & World Report for the second year in a row is a testament to the college’s commitment to student success.
Dean Benjamin Barros expressed his gratitude for the continued recognition, emphasizing the importance of these programs in preparing students for the practice of law. The College of Law also ranked No. 98 for its full-time JD program and No. 30 for its part-time JD Program.
The College of Law’s legacy as a national advocacy leader is deeply rooted, with the recent opening of the Advocacy Institute further solidifying its commitment to cultivating strong lawyering skills. Law Professor Elizabeth Boals, director of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, highlighted the hard work of students and the support they receive from faculty, staff, and alumni in representing the program at advocacy team competitions.
Innovation in legal writing is also a key focus at Stetson Law, with the Legal Writing program ranking at No. 3 for the third year in a row. The program continues to evolve to incorporate emerging cultural and technological patterns, with faculty like Kirsten Davis leading the way in integrating artificial intelligence into legal writing education.
