RNC Refuses to Cover Trump’s Legal Fees, Lara Trump Claims 2020 Election is Over

Lara Trump Says RNC Won’t Pay Donald Trump’s Legal Bills, Donors Can Opt-Out

Former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law and newly elected Republican National Committee co-chair, Lara Trump, made headlines with her recent interview where she revealed that the national party does not plan to cover his ongoing legal bills. In the interview, Lara Trump also discussed the importance of early and mail voting, differing with her father-in-law on certain issues.

During the interview on NBC News, Lara Trump discussed a new joint fundraising committee that links the party and the Trump campaign. The fine print of this joint committee suggests a focus on funneling money into the Trump campaign and a political action committee, Save America, which has been covering a significant portion of Donald Trump’s legal bills. Lara Trump emphasized that donors have the option to opt-out of contributing funds towards Trump’s legal bills if they choose to do so.

Despite Save America’s expenditures primarily going towards legal bills, a Trump spokesman stated that the PAC also covers other expenses related to the former president’s post-Presidency office. Lara Trump clarified that the RNC does not support paying Donald Trump’s legal bills, although a previous attempt to pass a resolution preventing this within the party failed.

Lara Trump’s views on the 2020 election were also discussed during the interview. While she expressed support for early voting and mail-in voting efforts, she also echoed some of Donald Trump’s concerns about the security of the election. However, she mentioned that the RNC is working on election security initiatives to address these concerns and build trust among Republican voters.

In addition to discussing fundraising and election issues, Lara Trump also touched on her role within the party and addressed criticisms of nepotism. She emphasized that her presence in the RNC is to assure donors about how their money is being spent and to build trust in the organization.

Overall, Lara Trump’s interview shed light on the inner workings of the Republican Party, its fundraising efforts, and its approach to key election issues. Her statements provide insight into the party’s stance on legal bills, election security, and the role of the RNC moving forward.
