Oppo Plans Comeback in European Market with 5G-Capable Handsets and Strategic Alliances
Oppo, the Chinese smartphone maker, is gearing up for a major comeback in the European market after resolving legal disputes with Nokia. The company’s chief executive, Bingo Liu, announced at an event at MWC Barcelona that Oppo will be reintroducing its products across Europe, starting with the launch of the 5G-capable Reno 11 F handset.
In addition to the Reno 11 F, Oppo plans to bring back its flagship Find series to the European market this year, with further expansions in the form of tablets and earphones in 2024. This move comes as Oppo aims to strengthen its presence in Europe and compete against rivals such as Xiaomi, Honor, Apple, and Samsung Electronics.
The recent global patent cross-licensing agreement with Nokia, covering standard-essential patents in 5G and other cellular communication technologies, is expected to boost Oppo’s recovery in the region. However, the company will face stiff competition from other smartphone manufacturers who have gained ground in Oppo’s absence.
Oppo’s strategic alliance with Spanish telecommunications operator Telefónica and the unveiling of its latest AI technologies at MWC Barcelona demonstrate the company’s commitment to regaining its position in the European market. With a focus on innovation and product diversification, Oppo is poised to make a strong comeback and challenge its competitors in the region.
