Thorntons Law Firm Celebrates First Anniversary of Glasgow Office Expansion
Thorntons, a full-service independent law firm, is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates the first anniversary of its permanent office base in Glasgow. The firm, which has a long history of working with clients in the West, opened its prestigious Lomond House premises on George Square a year ago.
Since then, Thorntons has experienced impressive growth, with a 72% increase in turnover from the Glasgow base alone, approaching £3 million. The team has nearly doubled in size, with 30 full-time colleagues now on board, including senior lateral hires, solicitors, finance, compliance, and business services professionals. The firm has invested £400,000 in the environmentally friendly design and open-plan layout of its Glasgow office, which has been reconfigured to accommodate the growing team.
Supported by the wider Thorntons network, clients in Glasgow can access full-service legal advice across various sectors, including commercial real estate, healthcare, technology, higher education, and social housing. Notable clients in the city include Glasgow School of Art, JCAM Investments, Wheatley Group, and City of Glasgow College.
In addition to its business growth, Thorntons has also been actively involved in the local community, supporting the Glasgow Homeless Street Team Charity through various fundraising initiatives. Lead partner Aimee Gibbons expressed pride in the firm’s achievements over the past year and highlighted the dedication of the team in delivering top-notch service to clients.
