Hall & Oates Announce Musical Split After Five Decades Together

Hall & Oates, the iconic US pop duo, have announced their musical split after five decades of performing together. The decision comes after an ongoing legal dispute regarding John Oates’ alleged attempt to sell his half of their jointly owned company, Whole Oats Enterprises.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Daryl Hall expressed his surprise at the situation, stating, “It hit me by surprise. I don’t know, man — all I can say is people change and sometimes you don’t really know someone like you thought you did.”

Hall confirmed that this marks the end of the band, revealing that the duo have not had a creative relationship for “at least 25 years”. Despite their split, Hall & Oates have left a lasting legacy with hits such as Rich Girl, Maneater, and Private Eyes.

Last year, a judge ruled in favor of Hall in his request to prevent Oates from selling his share of their joint venture without permission. Since then, Hall has teamed up with Dave Stewart for his upcoming solo album, emphasizing their strong partnership.

While some speculated that the album’s track titles may be about Oates, Hall clarified that they are not related to his former bandmate. A representative for Oates has yet to comment on the situation.

The end of an era for Hall & Oates marks a new chapter for both musicians as they pursue their individual musical endeavors.
