David Martindale’s future at Livingston uncertain pending court decision

Livingston manager David Martindale may leave club if ownership dispute goes against him

Livingston manager David Martindale is facing the possibility of leaving the club if ongoing legal action regarding ownership goes against those he believes are the rightful owners. The club announced last year that Baycup had purchased a controlling interest in Livingston, but this has been contested by some previous directors who claim they are the rightful owners.

Martindale emphasized the importance of a clear ownership structure for the club to move forward, stating, “For Livingston Football Club to move forward it needs clear ownership structure.” He acknowledged that the current ownership structure with Baycup is being contested in court and expressed his concern about the impact it could have on the club.

When asked if he would leave the club if the court decision goes against Baycup, Martindale replied, “Probably would. I wouldn’t want to. For me I’ve been very, very loyal to Livingston but they have been very, very loyal to me.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the ownership issue, Martindale reflected on the club’s achievements over the past six years, noting their ability to overachieve as a Championship club in the Premiership. He expressed his desire for the opportunity to lead the team back to the Premiership but acknowledged that the situation is out of his hands.

Livingston will conclude their season at home to Hibernian on Sunday, with Martindale hoping for a positive outcome both on and off the pitch for the club.
