Governor Gavin Newsom Signs a Slew of Bills Covering a Wide Range of Topics
In a flurry of legislative activity, Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a multitude of bills that touch on various aspects of California law. The bills cover topics ranging from food delivery platforms to redevelopment, sexual harassment, consumer refunds, and more.
One notable bill, AB 375 by Assemblymember Laurie Davies, focuses on food delivery platforms and requires the disclosure of delivery drivers’ identity. This measure aims to increase transparency and accountability within the industry.
Another significant bill, AB 1782 by Assemblymember Tri Ta, addresses redevelopment and establishes a Low and Moderate Income Housing Asset Fund for successor agencies. This fund is designed to support affordable housing initiatives in the state.
AB 1790, introduced by Assemblymember Damon Connolly, tackles the issue of sexual harassment within the California State University system. The bill aims to implement recommendations from the California State Auditor to address and prevent instances of sexual harassment on campus.
Other bills signed by the Governor cover a wide range of topics, including legal services for employees, coastal erosion expertise, consumer refunds, international commercial arbitration, and more.
In addition to signing numerous bills, Governor Newsom also vetoed two measures. AB 2570, which focused on the Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention program, and AB 2708, which pertained to the Office of Broadband and Digital Literacy, were both vetoed by the Governor.
