The Law Society of Scotland’s Council has recently announced that Glasgow solicitor Michael Samuel has been selected as the 20th person to receive honorary membership. This prestigious recognition is a testament to Mr. Samuel’s long and distinguished career in the legal profession.

Mr. Samuel, who was a founding partner of Miller Samuel in 1973 and served as the firm’s chairman for over four decades, has made significant contributions to the legal community in Scotland. His expertise in private client work, as well as his leadership roles in various committees and organizations, has had a positive impact on the profession.

In addition to his role at Miller Samuel, Mr. Samuel has also served as the Dean of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow and has been involved in numerous charitable and non-profit organizations. His dedication to helping others and his commitment to excellence in the legal field have earned him this well-deserved recognition from the Law Society.

Law Society of Scotland president Sheila Webster praised Mr. Samuel for his immense contributions to the profession, stating, “Michael’s contribution to Scotland’s solicitor profession has been immense and has benefitted countless people. I’d like to congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition of his long and distinguished career.”

In response to receiving this prestigious award, Mr. Samuel expressed his gratitude, stating, “I was both delighted and honoured to receive this award from the Law Society of Scotland, an organization dear to my heart, and of which I was a practising member for 50 years. I see it as an award not only to me, but to all of my colleagues past and present over that time. You can’t achieve these things alone.”

The Law Society’s Annual General Meeting, where Mr. Samuel will be officially welcomed as an honorary member, is set to take place online on 29 June. This recognition is a testament to Mr. Samuel’s dedication to the legal profession and his commitment to serving the community.
