Ex-Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani was formally disbarred in New York on Monday over his work trying to overturn the 2020 election—the latest in a string of lawyers facing consequences for their work with former President Donald Trump.

Giuliani, who led Trump’s post-election efforts, had his law license suspended in New York and is facing criminal charges in Arizona for his role in attempting to overturn the election results. He has also been sued for defamation by voting machine companies Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, and was ordered to pay $148 million in damages for defaming Georgia election workers.

Other lawyers, including Kenneth Chesebro, James Troupis, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, Christina Bobb, Jeffrey Clark, Sidney Powell, Michael Cohen, and Alina Habba, have also faced legal challenges for their involvement in Trump’s post-election efforts.

Ethics complaints have been filed against multiple Trump lawyers, and some have been sanctioned or criminally charged. Giuliani’s disbarment was described as a politically and ideologically corrupted decision by his spokesperson, who plans to appeal the ruling.
