CMS Law Scholarships Scheme for Scotland Supports Aspiring Legal Professionals
CMS, a leading law firm, has announced that it will be offering scholarships to three Scottish pupils to support them in pursuing their dream of a legal career. The CMS Law Scholarships Scheme for Scotland awards £2,500 each year to high-performing state school students from economically challenged backgrounds as they complete their law degrees, totaling £10,000 over a four-year Scottish degree.
This year’s recipients of the scholarship are Jaya Khasria from Vale of Leven Academy, Eva Frew from Hamilton Grammar School, and Olamide (Ola) Fadun from Lourdes Secondary School in Glasgow. In addition to financial support, the students will also receive mentoring from a qualified lawyer and paid work experience with CMS during their first year of university.
The scholarship program, now in its ninth year in Scotland, has seen previous winners go on to study at top UK universities and secure training contracts at prestigious law firms, including CMS.
Allan Wernham, managing director of CMS in Scotland, expressed his delight in supporting the three young and aspiring pupils, stating that the program aims to help students whose economic circumstances may hinder their academic and career aspirations in law.
Ola Fadun, one of the scholarship recipients, shared his excitement about the opportunities provided by the program, including mentorship, work placement, and financial support, which have brought his goal of excelling in the field of law closer to reality. Eva Frew, another recipient, expressed her gratitude for the scholarship, highlighting how it will help her achieve her goal of becoming a successful law student and solicitor.
The CMS scholarship program aims to give back to the community by offering young individuals the chance to explore and pursue a career in law, providing them with the necessary support and resources to succeed in the legal field.
